We all know we're not supposed to neglect ourselves while taking care of our kids. We've heard all about how we have to remember to take care of our physical and mental health in order to be the best moms we can be. It's a lot easier said than done though. We are busy!

When you're a busy mom, it's often easier to put yourself on the back burner. We often deny our own wants and needs in favor of answering the cries of our children and attending to their many needs. It's especially hard when our children are young. During this time, I find myself eating lunch over the kitchen sink and losing tons of sleep as I get up several times a night to check for monsters and make another sippy cup.

It doesn't get easier as our kids get older. For one thing, the pattern is set. We're so used to the awful habit of self-neglect that we forget to even think of ourselves. Besides, we're still busy playing taxi driver for sports and clubs and helping with homework.

We know we need to stay healthy. We tell ourselves that we have to stay healthy for our kids, but often times it's still hard to make time for exercise or eat balanced meals. Are there any practical ways to stay healthy when you're a busy mom?
