As veteran moms, we often want to reach out and help our friends who have recently embarked on the journey of motherhood. We feel compelled to offer advice, assistance, and support. After all, it takes a village as they say.

Whenever one of my friends brings a new baby into the world, the rest of us quickly rally to take them meals, offer baby items we are no longer using, and take turns checking-in with the new mom or mom-to-be. I'm incredibly grateful for all the help and support I've received from these lovely ladies throughout this pregnancy. I'm blessed to have my tribe of mommy friends.

When I'm in the position of helping one of these lovely ladies, I'm often unsure what to do. Should I visit at the hospital to show my support and excitement or let them have their privacy? Should I take them a casserole the day they get home so she doesn't have to cook or wait a few days while they get settled in? I'm never quite sure. What would be truly helpful? What would I want? What will these new parents want?

If you're unsure how you can help the new parents you know, check out the suggestions on the next page.
