As a breastfeeding mother, I know the importance of having and giving support in order to reach breastfeeding goals.  Many new mothers choose not to breastfeed or choose to stop feeding sooner than they would have liked due to a lack of support. I'm eternally grateful for the encouraging support network I have.

Like many breastfeeding moms, part of my support comes from social media groups that focus on breastfeeding education and awareness. Often these groups publish related news stories about breastfeeding, in particular, feeding in public. There is a lot of social stigma surrounding breastfeeding in public and many moms have experienced discrimination as a result. Many people and even companies are unaware of breastfeeding laws protecting nursing mothers and often violate these laws without knowing.

In an effort to avoid violations, many companies have developed special policies to train employees on how to properly handle the situation. Recently Target's policy has gone viral as breastfeeding moms everywhere rejoice and “share” their policy all over the web.

Find out what's in Target's policy on the next page.
