When It’s Time For Girls’ Night Out, Which Mom Are You?

Modern mom contends that there is one of each in every group. I'm grateful some of these personalities are missing from my group of girls. They wouldn't be nearly as much fun to hang out with if some were know-it-alls or major hubby complainers.

We definitely have some of the mom types mentioned in Modern Mom's 5 moms of girls night out. Do you know…

1.  The Flakey Mom.  She’s the one that excitedly talks about the get together all week leading up to it, and sends cute texts about how she “can’t wait” to hang out.  When you walk into the restaurant, one of the other gals tells you she’s not coming, since she’s tired/kids are sick/husband is working late.  There’s always a good excuse, but she always bails!

2.  The Way Too Happy to Be There Mom. She’s the one that’s starved for adult interaction, since she’s home with the kids all day long.  Everything is amazing and dramatic for this mom, since it doesn’t involve homework, diapers, or laundry.  “The food is so delicious!  TRY IT”  “Your hair is so soft! CAN I KEEP TOUCHING IT”  “Oh my gosh, did you see Ellen today?!  HILARIOUS!!!”

I'll be honest and admit that sometimes I think I'm “the way too happy to be there mom.” In fact, sometimes I think we all are.  It's hard not to be when you're stuck in the house with the kids all day every day. Right?

Okay, maybe I just need to get out more.

It's kind of hard to pick out which mom you are because they all sound sort of negative, but it's fun to read and think “Yep, that's totally Susan.” Pass it around to your friends and have a good laugh.

Then go get a copy of Seventeen and find a quiz to take. This time, you and your girlfriends can use it as an excuse to get together with a bottle of wine.  Tell “flakey mom” her attendance is mandatory on this one and she'll thank you later.
