I wonder if anyone ever wrote Dear Abby about birthday party etiquette. This year, my husband and I will play host to two children's birthday parties and appear as guests at countless others. We're old hats at the kiddie birthday party. We know what makes a good party, we know our role, and we know which sorts of presents kids love that don't make the parents crazy.
