Chaos Amid Clutter

I planned on starting to work on the little guy’s baby book almost a year ago – right before he was born. That hasn’t happened yet. The whole idea of rummaging through everything that I packed away overwhelms me.

Apparently, being uncomfortable with clutter and chaos isn’t all that uncommon. The girl that I was talking to had a few very similar thingsto say. For her, though, the problem area was a room that was supposed to be her office and had become more of a storage area since having had her daughter a few years ago.

Sometimes, it’s easier to leave things out than it is to put them away. In the process, we end up with random things here, there, and everywhere. At the moment, my workspace is covered with things that I’ve unpacked for one reason or another and haven’t done anything else with. I just haven’t gotten to it yet and sometimes life gets in the way of my good intentions.

We all have our piles – maybe, not in the literal sense, but those areas in our homes that drive us insane. For some of us, it’s the junk drawer in our kitchen that’s become a catch-all for anything and everything. For others, it might be a corner or closet that’s become overrun with our cast-offs from years past.

The real question is what do we do about them? Do we ignore them and hope that eventually they go away? Do we tackle the messes a little at a time in an attempt to restore our sanity? Maybe, we do the type of thing that I mentioned where we take an entire week and do a complete overhaul.

Are you paralyzed by disorganization? Do chaos and clutter make you uneasy and uncomfortable? Leave a comment and share your thoughts.
