I have to say, I am pretty adamant about my disagreement with letting my son “cry it out.” If it were up to me, he would never cry. I know that’s unrealistic, but given the opportunity, I would do anything and everything I possibly could to ensure that his needs were met as quickly as possible.

I can’t even count the number of people who told me at one point or another that their best advice for dealing with my so-called high-maintenance baby was to let him “cry it out.” When he wouldn’t sleep through the night, let him “cry it out.” When I had things to do around the house and he wanted my attention, let him “cry it out.” They assured me that sooner or later he would sleep through the night or he would be content to spend time by himself.

I’m not convinced. Why? Well, I'll tell you on the next page!
