Lindsey, from Lindsey Blogs, is sharing her struggles with convincing her daughter to eat vegetables and other healthy foods in her recent article filled with tips for convincing our toddlers to try their vegetables.

She notes some things we've heard before like praising them when they do eat vegetables and finding ways to make vegetables fun (I'm still not sure I'm succeeding with that one).

However, some of her advice is new and I found it really helpful. Here's what she suggests:

1. Sneak them in to foods your toddler loves.

When I asked for advice, I got this answer a lot.  Although I haven't tried Mashed Cauliflower or Carrot-filled Macaroni and Cheese yet, I have chopped up a few veggies like zucchini and mushrooms and thrown them into spaghetti sauce.  Homemade smoothies are also a great way to hide a few veggie ingredients.

2.  Vegetable Snack Pouches.

Those little snack pouches are one of the best inventions ever.  Seriously, both girls suck them right up!  We had been buying just the fruit filled ones, but my Mom gave Sophia one at her house one day that had Carrots, Apples, and Sweet Potatoes.  She just assumed it was apple sauce and ate it right up!  This is an easy way to get a few veggies in!

We are having lots of luck with sneaking things like spinach and kale into fruit smoothies for our toddler. The smoothies look a little green when they come out of the blender, but you can't taste the greens when you drink it. I have found that putting it in an opaque cup helps too, that way he can't see the green either.

At first, I was leary of the veggie pouches. Many of them contain more fruits than veggies, so I was unsure of how much he might actually be getting. Did it count as a full serving? Then I decided that any vegetables is better than no vegetables. Besides, our toddler sucks these right down! It's amazing.
