Is Your Husband Your Best Friend?

Okay, so all 12 of Good Housekeeping's signs don't really fit with my marital relationship, but here are some that I absolutely love!

1. He tells you literally everything.

My husband isn't the kind to share deep dark secrets. Mostly because he doesn't have secrets. However, I'm pretty sure his desire to tell me about the gas those tacos at lunch gave him or that he finally overcame his fear of pooping at work counts. Sometimes I wish he didn't tell me everything. Husbands can be totally gross!

2. You order for each other. If you're picking up Chipotle on the way home, you don't even need to ask how he wants his burrito (steak, white rice, black beans, medium salsa, and guacamole). That's true love.

Did you just recite your husband's order at your favorite place? Because I was totally thinking of my husband's perfect sandwich from Subway while I read this one!

3. You don't need to spend every second together, but you do prefer when he's around.

Remember that stage in your relationship when you couldn't stand to be apart? Thinking about it now makes me a little sick. There are definitely days, especially the hormonal ones, when I wish he could just disappear for a while. But when he's gone I catch his favorite commercial on TV or see something outlandish and he's the first person I want to call. He can really get under my skin, but I like it when he's around.

4. You can share a look and know what the other one is thinking.  It's pretty easy for you to glance at him across the room and know you're both ready to leave this boring party.

There are lots of times when I really wish I knew what he was thinking.  Sometimes I even ask him, much to his frustration. Then there are the moments, like at dinner with the parents last week, when we can look at each other and we already know it's time to go.

5. You've been through some rough times together. Sure, every relationship feels great at the high points, but you've also survived some real struggles. At this point, you know he's not going anywhere.

It's part of marriage. It can't all be roses and romance. Thankfully, you've got a best friend sidekick to weather the storm with. Aren't husbands great?
