I'm totally in favor of postponing formal education. What I mean is that during what's typically considered the Preschool and Kindergarten years, we should be encouraging a love of learningĀ and reading to our kids, not shoving Math and Phonics down their throats.

Science experiments. Nature walks. Building things. That's all great. My issue comes when we have 4-year-olds sitting at a desk doing workbook pages. Let them live. They have their entire lives to learn.

Huff Post Parents published an article that looks at whether or not delaying Kindergarten could benefit kids' mental health. Crazy to think about, isn't it? So what exactly does this new study say about “redshirting?”
