A Woman’s Work Is Never Done

Yesterday was an insanely-crazy day. It started with a whole lot of the usual – get up, get us dressed, and get us both where we belong. As the day wore on, everything changed. Let me just say that when it gets to Wednesday and you’re not even close to approaching the half-way point with the week’s chores – and I use that term loosely, you know you’re in trouble and that it’s going to be a very long weekend of playing catch up.

Some weeks, like this one, I can’t even begin to wrap my head around the mess that I’ve created – obviously, not intentionally. Sunday night, the little guy was sick. He was up and down all night. We were obviously extremely late for work/daycare on Monday morning. When I finally got him to bed on Monday night, I wasn’t all that far behind. I did nada – zip, zilch, zero. I accomplished absolutely nothing useful that day because I was utterly exhausted from being up all night the night before.

Tuesday evening, we had to go get our taxes done. There’s nothing like waiting until April 1, right? And what about last night, you ask? I tried. I really truly did, but my favorite little guy refused to do anything even remotely resembling sleep until really late – even for him. To add to the chaos, my husband and I were up talking about electrical outlets at 1 AM. Yes, you heard that right. We had to finalize plans for the wiring for the addition before today.

This morning when I woke up, I had this slightly edgy, anxious feeling – you know, the way you feel when it’s Thursday morning and you’re questioning whether or not you’re going to meet your obligations for the week. Fun times, right? Here’s to praying for some peace and quiet tonight to get things done.

Do you feel as though a woman’s work is never done? Do you occasionally have weeks when it seems as if you’ll never get caught up? Leave a comment and share your thoughts.
