4 Things I Hope My Son Inherits From His Daddy

Here’s the list.

1. Ambitious – I’ve never met a person that’s anywhere near as ambitious as my husband. I always joke around with him that I’m a thinker and he’s a doer. My husband is always busy with something – either work, or something around the house, or volunteering. I hope my son works as hard and is as determined to succeed as his daddy is.

2. Well-rounded – One of the reasons that my husband is in his current position is because he’s so versatile. We work for the same company, but not at the same location – he’s one of our go-to people when we need something, though. He can do just about anything. He has at least some training in a lot of different areas. As far as I’m concerned, there’s very little he can’t do.

3. Mechanically-inclined – I’m amazed by the things that my husband can build and/or fix. It’s crazy to think that he just knows what to do and that it comes naturally to him. I’m so far from mechanically-inclined that it’s ridiculous. Here’s to hoping that my son learns a thing or two from hanging out in the garage with his dad that will serve him well throughout his life.

4. Charitable – I hope he gives as selflessly as my husband does. I can’t even count the number of years that my husband has been a member of our local volunteer fire department. He’s been known to sometimes be at a fire call all night and then go straight to work the next day. It’s obviously extremely important to him to help others and I hope in the future that my son feels the same.

There’s no doubt that my husband has other endearing qualities as well. Don’t they all? These just happen to be the few that are the most important to me – these are the things that I hope, more than anything else, come from daddy.

Are there traits that you hope your son or daughter inherit from you and your significant other? Are there traits you hope they don’t? Leave a comment and share your list of what you hope comes from who.
