Why It’s Great To Be Pregnant At The Beach

All that stuff they say about being pregnant in the summer time is completely true! Naively, I thought they were exaggerating. No… it's pretty gross. It's just hot, sweaty, and gross.

However, there's an upside: summer vacation. Our budget doesn't really allow us to take a “babymoon” before our little one arrives, but this year we will get to take a little family weekend vacation to the beach and I'm determined to enjoy it as much as possible!

Babble has put together a list of things we can actually look forward to and enjoy no matter how hot it is.  Here are my favorites:

1.  Beach Chair Lounging – I don't know about you, but there are certain days where I would give anything to sit in a chair all day long and feel like I had nothing else to do. Vacation is the perfect time to do just that. Even better when you can relax in a comfy chair and chat your day away with friends and family!

My big pregnant belly is the perfect excuse to let my husband chase our toddler around while I recline under an umbrella with a big cup of ice chips.

2.  Unlimited Napping – As someone who is always going, going, going – vacation is the one time that I don't feel guilty taking as many naps as I want. There is no better feeling than a mid-day nap at the beach with an ocean breeze coming in your window.

Okay, so maybe my napping won't be unlimited… mostly due to the fact that I'm also the mom of a very active toddler. I'll still be taking the opportunity to nap with the toddler in our big comfy hotel bed. No need to get up and do house work while he's sleeping during vacation. I can just snuggle up next to him with the AC on full blast. Gosh that sounds nice!

3. Beach Walking – If all the napping and reading makes you restless, a great way to fit in some pregnancy exercise is a relaxing long beach walk. As long as you prepare with a little extra sunscreen and water, strolling in the sand is a great way to get exercise while also enjoying all the sights and sounds of vacation.

Walking on the beach is probably the only time I don't dread exercise. I certainly won't be doing it in the heat of the day, but it sounds like a great way to relax with my little family and squeeze in some exercise after dinner…. as the sun goes down. Maybe I'll even find some pretty seashells for our nursery. Hmm…. the ideas are endless!

Okay, so maybe our beach trip really isn't something to dread. I'm kind of excited actually. Are you pregnant and planning a vacation? Check out the other great reasons to visit the beach at Babble.  What are you looking forward to?
