What If Your Little Boy Played With Dolls…
I remember having a conversation with a few friends one day – all of whom have little boys. We were talking about whether or not it was socially acceptable for boys to play with dolls. Obviously, I use the term “socially acceptable” loosely because gender equality and double standards go hand in hand.
Why is this even a question in this day and age? Why is it that we keep pushing for equal rights for girls, but our little boys get forgotten about?
Does it matter if our little boys want to “play house” with the girls and help take care of the baby? After all, teaching our sons to be nurturers and to be good husbands and fathers is important. Don't you think?
One mom wrote an amazing essay on the issue of gender inequality. You can read some of it on the next page:
