Top 4 Amusement Parks for Preschoolers
1. Sesame Place
Located in Langhorne, Pennsylvania, Sesame Place is the official amusement park of the beloved Sesame Street characters. The park has wet and dry attractions geared towards young children and their families.
If your kids love Elmo, they will have a blast in Elmo’s World or watching Elmo’s live musical at the park. If Cookie Monster is more your speed, there’s a brand new attraction called Cookie’s Monster Land that even includes a soft play area for very young children.
Other characters can be seen throughout the park, at one of two daily parades, or at a special play date you can arrange with your favorite character. You can even arrange to have a character breakfast, lunch, or dinner in the park with Oscar, Grover, Abby Cadabby, Elmo, or Bert & Ernie.
2. Lego Land
Located in Florida and California, Lego Land isn’t just for boys or big kids. The park has many attractions for preschoolers like the Ford Jr. Driving School for kids as young as three. Other attractions for young kids include live shows, a 4D theater, DUPLO Valley rides (modeled after DUPLO blocks for young Lego lovers), and the Lost Kingdom Adventure attraction.
For more fun, you can stay at the Lego Land Hotel complete with themed rooms. Room themes include pirates, kingdoms, adventure themes (think Indiana Jones), and pet themes from the Heartlake City lego line. Kids staying at the hotel also get lego blocks to build with and can participate in a treasure hunt during their stay with Lego themed prizes.
Visitors to the California location can also have some educational fun at the Sea Life Aquarium complete with play zones and interactive exhibits for kids of all ages.
3. Seuss Landing
Seuss Landing is part of Universal Orlando’s Islands of Adventure Park. I have to admit that this park is on my must see list. I think even adults would enjoy this park, because it brings to life the beloved books of the famous children’s author, Dr. Seuss.
The park features a Caro-Seuss-el , quite possibly the strangest carousel in the world. Unlike traditional carousels, this special Dr. Seuss version features interactive characters that come to life when you pull on the reins. Of course, in true Dr. Seuss fashion, there are no boring horses on this carousel. Each character is unique and there are no two alike. I want to ride on the cowfish!
There’s not a straight line to be found in the park. Don’t believe me? See for yourself from the High in the Sky Seuss Trolley Train which takes you for a ride around the park. It will give you a chance to see all the twists and turns while mapping out which rides you want to check out first.
Other rides include the One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish water ride and a really cool Cat in the Hat ride where you watch the story come to life as you ride through the classic on a couch with Thing 1 and Thing 2.
4. Story Land
If you don’t have older children to entertain, you might want to check out Story Land. Located in New Hampshire’s White Mountains, Story Land has 21 rides designed just for children under 10 and parents can ride along. Many of the rides mimic classic attractions we remember from our childhood like the teacups, a pirate ship, antique cars, and a German carousel.
All of the attractions at this park are modeled after classic fairy tales, nursery rhymes, and other tales we all know and love. There are pirate ships, princesses, Mother Goose, and animals. You can even go for a ride in Cinderella’s pumpkin coach!
Does your family enjoy visiting amusement parks too? What’s your favorite park to take the kids? I’d love to hear all about it in the comments.
