1. Teach healthy eating habits to your kids.

2. Get moving with your kids.  Walk the dog, hike in a local park.

3. Make sure you focus on your kids’ intellect, not their looks.

4. Ask for your kids’ opinions on decisions.

5. Find positive role models for them to emulate, not the Kardashians.

6. Spend quality time with your kids, not just discussing their day, but current events.

7. Make yourself accessible, not judgmental.

8. Get out of your comfort zone and show them how to be brave.

9. If you are sad, scared, angry – let them see that in a positive light.  Show them that you are human, with emotions.

10. And teach them to deal with their emotions.

11. Never name-call with them.  Don’t call them “fat”, “ugly” or “stupid”.  You’d think this would be common sense, and surprisingly, it’s not.
