5 Tips to Keep Kids Safe Near Water

As kids, we spent every summer swimming in the pool, the beach, or a nearby lake.  My mom had some safety rules about being in the water. We complained a lot about the nuisance of life jackets. We parroted her mantra “stay where I can see you” in comical voices as we stuck out our tongues. Now that I’m a mom, I’m glad she had these rules. It took becoming a mom for me to realize just how dangerous the water could be.
