6 Reasons Why I Write
1. To have a creative outlet – We all need some form of a creative outlet. For some of us, that may take the form of sewing and quilting, making jewelry, scrapbooking, or even art journaling. For me, it’s writing. Writing was my first love before I even realized that scrapbooking existed and it’s what I keep going back to time and time again.
2.To reflect on my thoughts – Writing gives me the ability to think and reflect and to truly understand myself. Sometimes, what comes out when you put pen to paper is nowhere near what you thought. Writing can help you piece things together and make sense of them. It can help you feel less overwhelmed when you’re having a hard time with something.
3. To inspire and educate – At this point, a lot of my blogging focuses on crafts, do it yourself projects, and remodeling. My articles mostly relate to my experiences as a mama. Some of my posts are meant to educate with step-by-step instructions and pictures. Some of my articles are meant to inspire other mamas and to remind them that everything’s going to be okay.
4. To have a record of our lives – I love having the ability to look back on certain periods of my life and to reminisce about the girl that I was all those years ago or to remember the experiences that have made me the woman that I am today. My journals are just as important to me as my pictures are. Together, they make our story complete.
5. To connect with people – It’s amazing the relationships that I’ve formed online – all from being involved with blogging and social media. I’m active in a number of online groups relating to the topics that I’m writing about and these women are awesome. These are women that share my interests. They get it.
6. To develop my writing skills – None of us are born writers and I’m no exception. In order to get better at something, you have to practice. You have to stick with it. More often than not, your writing won’t be perfect at first. You’ll make mistakes, but you’ll learn from them. With time and practice, though, you’ll get there. One day, you’ll sit down and the words will just flow.
