5 Things Your Toddler PRETENDS You’re Saying
Communicating with toddlers is hard work. Their verbal skills, while cute, aren't the best. If your toddler is upset about anything, tired, or hungry… verbal communication pretty much goes out the window.
As moms, we quickly learn not to expect a lot of explanation from our toddlers. I've quickly become used to troubleshooting my toddler's issues with little to no verbal input from him.
Here's the problem: not only is my toddler lacking in being able to verbally communicate his own feelings, wants, and needs; he has no idea what my seemingly self-explanatory actions or words mean. Or, perhaps he does know and he just conveniently feigns ignorance. Either way, it's pretty frustrating.
Isn't it obvious that when I'm standing there soaking wet from the shower that he might have to wait just one minute before I can get him an apple? Doesn't he realize that I can't simultaneously answer the knocking at the door and fix the tower of blocks he has knocked over for the millionth time? Apparently not.
