10 Things You Never Knew You Could Do With Rubber Bands
1. Manicure: Wrap a rubber band around the end of your finger nail. It makes a perfect straight line for French manicures. You’ll look like you went to the salon without spending the extra cash.
2. No locked doors: Put a rubber band on your kid’s door knob, twist, and attach the other end to door knob on the other side. Now your angst ridden teen can’t lock you out of her room when she’s mad.
3. Painting: Use a rubber band to control paint drip by putting one vertically across the lip of the paint can. Wipe your brush across it as you take it out of the pail and you won’t have to clean up paint dripping later.
4. Jar grip: My grandmother taught me this one. She’s used it for years! Wrap a rubber band around the lid of any jar. Twist while holding the rubber band and that stuck jar of sauce will magically open.
5. Crock pot: If you’re traveling to a pot luck dinner, use two rubber bands to secure the lid of your slow cooker. Wrap one end of the band around the knob atop your lid and the other around the handle on the side. Repeat with another band on the opposite side. Voila, you’ll arrive safely without a mess in your trunk.
6. Clothes hanger: Wrap a rubber band around each end of your hangers and those pesky tank tops and silk chemises won’t slide off the ends. I’m so glad someone shared this with me. I spend a lot less time picking up fallen clothes in my closet floor these days.
7. Glass markers: If you’re having a party, wrapping different colored rubber bands around the bottoms of glasses works well. You won’t have to worry about guests getting their drinks mixed up.
8. Cutting board: Wrap a rubber band around both ends of your cutting board to make chopping easier. The band will keep your board from sliding around while you’re pretending to be Emeril. Bam!
9. Tea cup: A rubber band around the top of your tea cup can hold your tea bag in place for you while you sip. I find this trick much more effective than attempting to wrap the string around my mug handle.
10. Tissue box: This one is my favorite. Use rubber bands to secure an empty tissue box to a full box when you’re sick. Now you’ll always have somewhere to toss the used tissues when you’re too sick to get out of the bed.
