My husband has been making jokes about my sleeping habits for years.  Once, before we had children, I actually became concerned and asked my doctor about my seemingly incessant need for sleep. After discussing my diet, exercise, and sleeping habits, as well as checking for vitamin deficiencies, my doctor couldn't determine a cause.

I could sleep for 10 hours straight, but my husband often functions on only a few hours sleep.  Is there a reason for the differences in our sleeping habits?
