Being a mom is one of the most amazing things you'll ever experience, but it's also one of the hardest. Sometimes, though, hard isn't necessarily a bad thing. Sometimes, it just is. Hard is relative and it's definitely different for each of us. The so-called “hard” that a lot of moms describe in the first few weeks and months after bringing home their baby was easy for me.

I remember lying on the couch with my son asleep on my chest while I listened to him breathing. Simple pleasures, right? I was so excited to become a mom that I very much lived for those moments.

My son turning two and starting to exert his independence? That's hard. Sometimes, I wonder how he grew up so quickly and where the time went. It seems like just yesterday that he was a newborn. The fact that this little guy who I very much still think of as “my baby” is growing up is unthinkable.

One mom wrote a beautiful essay about saying goodbye to her son and this totally made my heart melt. You're definitely going to want to check it out on the next page, especially if you feel the same way I do.
