I grew up solidly in the middle class. I had two working parents and we definitely weren't well-off in any sense of the word. We did however have a roof over our heads, food to eat, and lots of love. That didn't stop our parents from saving money to make birthdays and Christmases as special as possible.

Fast forward to becoming a mom and I feel the same way. My husband and I are doing alright and I go out of my way to splurge on my son. Not all the time, of course, but definitely for special occasions.

While we're on the subject, I also strongly believe one can never have too many books or art supplies. I'm mindful of what I spend money on and the majority goes to things we'll be able to enjoy for a long time.

I don't buy into the latest fads. I tend to stick with tried and true. Personally, I feel that keeps kids down to earth. There is no shortage of stuff to do here, but I haven't exactly invested thousands into a playroom that's a plastic paradise either.

Mila Kunis shares her views on refusing to raise spoiled kids and you're definitely going to want to check it out on the next page.
