How Much Do You Share Online?

I’m a blogger, which means that I’m constantly questioning how much to put out there – how much I want the world to know about us and our lives. I’m constantly assessing and reassessing where to draw the line as far as my son and his privacy. I’m sure anyone that’s active on social media has the same concerns.

The internet can be a scary place and, at first, I was very careful – almost too careful – about keeping everything related to him on lockdown. I posted his birth announcement on my blog and then pictures of him became far and few between. I kept everything as generic as possible and even then the majority of what was posted of him was in a private Facebook group. I was careful to limit that group, for the most part, to people that I had met in real life. I didn’t want to take any unnecessary chances.

Every day, I look at blogs – and every day, I see women posting pictures of their kids and I still wonder the same thing – how much is too much? You see them everywhere, pictures of adorable little ones filling up our Facebook and Instagram feeds with their sun-streaked hair and popsicle-stained lips. They’re our pride and joy and we want to share them with the world.
