1. Balls and blocks – We have multiple sets of blocks and numerous balls. We have blocks that make sounds and peek-a-blocks that are transparent and have cars and trucks inside of them. We also have a couple of sets of wooden blocks that we can build things with. More often than not, these just get thrown around, but he definitely still loves them. We have activity balls, stuffed balls, and textured balls. Needless to say, the balls and blocks are some of the most played with toys that we’ve bought.

2. Nesting/stacking toys – We have a few sets of nesting and stacking toys – the classic stacking cups from when my husband and I were kids and a set of buckets made by Tupperware. We also have a few sets of bathtub toys that stack. One of my favorites is a set of fish – each one has a strainer in it. We also have a set of the stacking rings and a rainbow stacker.

3. Musical instruments – We have a rainmaker, a tambourine, a xylophone, and a set of maracas. Apparently, we like percussion around here. He obviously likes anything that makes noise. In reality, though, these toys are nowhere near as annoying as what I thought they’d be. I was seriously hesitant to purposely buy these kinds of things. I thought I’d regret it after the fact. Sometimes he gets loud, but you learn to tune it out relatively quickly. That’s reassuring, isn’t it?

4. Cars/trucks – I can’t even begin to tell you how many different types of cars and trucks we have already. We have a my first Tonka dump, a Fisher Price dump truck with brightly-colored shape blocks that spill out of it. We have a number of different race cars. Even at 6 or so months old, the little guy understood the concept of wheels making things go and he would push cars and truck back and forth with me.

5. Interactive learning toys – Fisher Price, VTech, and LeapFrog tend to make these types of toys. We have the Laugh & Learn Love to Play Puppy, My Pal Scout, and Cody the Smart Cub. Each of these toys does a combination of different things from saying his name and singing songs to teaching colors and body parts. They’re all slightly different, so definitely read reviews and pick the one that makes the most sense for you and your baby.

There you have it – a list of our favorite toys. Do you have a few favorite baby toys? Leave a comment and add to the list.
